“I AM” is a multi-media project by Emma Weird exploring the relationship (or lack of) between gender identity and the nude body. In “I AM,” Emma works collaboratively with photographers and subjects of varying gender identities, combining acrylic painting with nude photography in order to highlight the difference between personal identity and physical appearance.
The images are then accompanied by texts where subjects and the artist explain their own relationship with their bodies and gender, questioning the expectations and assumptions perceived of them through the imagery.
The project is ongoing and welcomes photographers and models to submit photos, however, priority to women*, trans, and non binary folk.
